Aputure builds cinema-grade LED lighting trusted by cinematographers, gaffers, and broadcast engineers from Shenzhen sets to Hollywood stages.

Founded in 2013 and headquartered in Shenzhen, Aputure has grown into one of the leading independent makers of professional LED fixtures for narrative film, commercial production, virtual production volumes, and broadcast studios. Our COB Spotlights, Amaran monolights, MC RGBWW pocket lights, and MT Pro tube fixtures are engineered around the color science cinematographers actually rely on: TLCI 96+, CRI 95+, and full 2700-6500K tunable white with green-magenta correction baked into every release.

Our mission: lighting tools that match how DPs actually shoot

Every Aputure fixture is co-developed with working directors of photography, gaffers, and broadcast LDs who tell us what fails on a 14-hour shoot day. That feedback loop drives our hardware decisions: Bowens Mount compatibility so existing softboxes, octas, and Fresnel optics keep their place in the lighting kit; reliable AC adapter and dual V-mount or Gold-mount battery operation so a 600d Pro can move from a sound stage to a rooftop without re-rigging; and Sidus Link bluetooth mesh so an entire bag of MC pocket lights or a row of MT Pro tubes can be addressed from a single iPad. We refuse to ship a fixture until cinematographers tell us the light renders skin tone, fabric, and metal honestly under the same color temperature targets they would expect from a tungsten or HMI source.

Inside the photometric lab and on-set test stage

At our Shenzhen R&D campus we run a dedicated photometric lab, an anechoic thermal chamber, and a blackout test stage where every prototype is shot against tungsten 3200K and daylight 5500K reference standards. Cinematographers visiting the stage put fixtures through real production scenarios: a 1200d Pro through a 26-degree Fresnel adapter for a key on talent at twelve feet, an Amaran 200x bounced into a 4x4 muslin for a soft commercial beauty key, and MT Pro tubes hidden as practicals inside set pieces. We document spectral output, flicker behavior at high shutter angles, and color drift over a full eight-hour duty cycle so the data sheet matches what the gaffer will measure with a Sekonic on set.

Photometric Bench

Full spectroradiometer sweep capturing TLCI, CRI, SSI, and TM-30 metrics under tungsten and daylight reference targets.

Flicker Lab

High-speed camera testing from 24fps up to 1000fps, validating flicker-free output at any practical shutter angle.

Thermal Chamber

Eight-hour duty cycle runs at 40 degrees ambient to confirm color stability and active cooling for long studio days.

Test Stage

Blackout stage shared with visiting DPs and gaffers to validate beam shape, falloff, and modifier behavior in real conditions.

We publish photometric data sheets, beam angle charts, and Sidus Link integration guides because cinematographers, gaffers, and rental house techs need numbers they can drop straight into a lighting plot. Each release ships with measured lux at distance for clear, 26-degree, and 40-degree Fresnel optics, plus DMX channel maps for stage LDs running fixtures alongside Vortex strobes or virtual production LED walls. We also document Sidus Link group routing so a content creator with five MC RGBWW pocket lights and a podcast LD running an MT Pro tube grid can copy proven setups instead of relearning the menu tree mid-shoot.
